What is skin care?
The definition of skincare in the oxford dictionary is the use of cosmetics to care for your skin.
People usually use products to improve the quality of their skin or to reach specific skin goals, such as controlling acne, reducing oil or slowing down the appearance of wrinkles.
In this post, we are focusing on what are the 5 basic of skin care?
Basic skin care routine and where to start? What are the 5 basic of skin care?
Are you new to skin care routine and have no idea what are the 5 basic of skin care? There is so much misinformation on the internet right now, and it’s not clear what would be suitable for your skin. I recommend Skin Care The New Edit by Caroline Hiron.

Daily skin care routine at home
In my research, I have found a nine step daily routine that in my opinion covers all areas of skin care and it works well for all ages in.

- Use spot treatment. …

- Apply retinoid. …
- Apply face oil.
- sunscreen
I found this routine from(MasterClass, 2021).
My skin care routine
I use a similar skincare routine to the perfect 9-step skincare routine. I wash my face with Dr organic deep pore face wash. I use this face wash as it’s vegan and cruelty-free. The face wash is a cleanser that helps with spot-prone skin like mine. Before washing my face at night, I do remove my makeup with organic coconut oil as this is so gentle and moisturising for the skin and great for removing makeup around the eyes without stinging or damaging my eyes. After removing my makeup, I use my dr organic with an exfoliating brush to remove dead skin cells and any stubborn makeup from my face that could cause spots.
My second step is cleansing with Vitaskin cleansing balm. I like to double cleanse because I am quite an active person, and I frequently do sweaty workouts, so it’s important to double cleanse. I also love this cleansing balm because it feels amazing to apply. It’s so silky and smooth on the skin even after rinsing it off; it leaves the skin feeling soft. I highly recommend it.
I know that the nine-step skincare above-the-spot treatment is the sixth step, but I must use my spot treatment after cleansing because I need to wash it off. As you can see from the previous steps, I do favour products that come with a spot treatment. This is because I have spot-prone skin. So for my spot treatment step, I like to use the Vitaskin B Blemish Control gel cleanser. Yes, it is another cleanser, but I use it for the spot treatment alone. The cleanser has the added benefit of Eucalyptus which is used to remove blemish causing sebum and it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.
My fourth step would be to apply my toner. The toner I use is also by Dr Organic. The toner also cleanses, reduces shine, reduces oil, reduces pores and clears the skin.
My next step is to apply the serum. For night time I use Vitaskin vitamin A rejuvenating night serum. This serum is packed in retinal and carrot seed oil. This is amazing for the skin and will help slow down ageing. For the daytime, the serum I like to use is the Vitaskin Vitamin B Mattifying Hydration Serum.
This Vitamin B mattifying serum is rich in Niacinamide, which is known to help to reduce the appearance of redness and spots. It helps to regulate sebum and improve the appearance of blemishes associated with spot-prone skin like mine. Panthenol leaves skin soft, smooth, and deeply hydrated.
My sixth step is applying eye cream. I feel like younger people overlook this step, but it is just as essential to start early with eye cream to avoid early ageing and slow down the sign of wrinkles before they even start. Again I love to use Vitaskin. I use the Vitaskin vitamin C lifting Eye Cream for my morning and night routine. The Eye cream is packed with vitamin C and botanical extracts that help brighten and lighten dark circles around the eyes. The eye cream formula visibly enhances and plumps the skin around the eyes and keeps the skin soft.
My seventh step is finally moisturising. You can guess by now what brand I use for my moisturiser. I use Vitaskin, The Vitaskin Vitamin A Daily Protect SPF Moisturiser. The moisturiser is infused with Botanical oils, and I only use this moisturiser during the day because it has an SPF15 included, which is essential for protecting your skin from the harmful sun rays which can cause premature ageing and skin Cancer. The moisturising is so intense I have never had any issues with dry skin when using this moisturiser.
For the night, I like to use the Vitaskin vitamin C Collagen Boosting Night Cream. This night cream is very hydrating, and it is a good option if you are looking to stop the sign of wrinkles, as it has collagen-boosting properties.
My Eighth step in my skincare routine is to apply retinal. This is an important step not just in your skincare but also in your diet. Retinal helps with cell renewal, and these properties are in leafy green vegetables; renewing cells is essential for the body to help age healthily. For this step, I use Vitaskin Vitamin A intense Cell Renewal Oil. This is packed with vitamins A and E to keep the skin looking young.
My Ninth step is face oil. I like to use Dr Organic Vitamin E Pure Oil Complex. This is because it’s so moisturising and great for scars which are excellent for me as I get spots quickly, and they can sometimes scar my face.
